Republican leader Westerman congratulates nominees

LITTLE ROCK – House Republican Leader Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today issued the following statement on the results of the May 22 Republican primary election:

“Conservatives in Arkansas have taken another big step toward establishing a new conservative majority in the House of Representatives that will fight for hardworking Arkansas taxpayers by bringing increased transparency and oversight to state government.  I congratulate the Republican nominees and look forward to the day we welcome them to the House as members to elect a Republican Speaker of the House and sweep away the 138-year status quo of one-party rule in the Arkansas General Assembly.

“We will be working with our entire slate of candidates to further develop our SIMPLE Plan to create an effective and efficient state government that is accountable to its people.  As we move towards November, we look forward to having a positive, fact-based and issue-oriented conversation with the people of Arkansas about our vision for the role of state government in our lives.”
